Oakland California based guitarist, producer, and instructor Dakota Salazar has been recording, teaching, and performing in the Bay Area and on stages across the United States since graduating from UC Davis with a degree in Music Theory and Composition in 2012.
Dakota regularly performs with bands including Agouti, Cave Clove, Travis Hayes, and Kat Robichaud’s Misfit Cabaret and is available for gigs, session work, and private guitar instruction in person locally, or worldwide via zoom.

For most of my students, lessons focus on the fundamentals of rock and pop guitar, with an emphasis on developing well rounded and independent musicians, capable of writing, playing, and improvising by ear. My broad experience working with youth in classroom, small group, and one-on one settings has taught me that learning happens best when students are having fun and are motivated to practice. Therefore, I prioritize learning techniques and theory through well-known songs that are fun to play, and allow each student’s passions and curiosities to drive individualized lesson planning tailored just for them.
